Eternal Security

As Bible believers, we believe all of Scripture, not just a selection of verses. There are verses in the Bible that say someone can lose their salvation, and there are verses that say someone cannot lose it. The difference is to whom the verses are talking.

Verses that teach someone can lose salvation

• Must endure to the end
  • Till the end of what? Till the end of the Tribulation.
  • Matthew 10:22
  • Matthew 24:13-14, 21, 29
    • This is the Gospel of the Kingdom, preached during the Tribulation
  • Mark 13:13
  • Hebrews 3:6
• Had it, lost it, can’t get it back
  • Hebrews 6:4-6
    • Revelation 14:9-11
    • Someone who took the mark
  • Daniel 12:4, 8-13

How you know you cannot lose your salvation

1. We are now sons of God

   • John 1:12
   • 1 John 3:2
   • Galatians 4:6-7

2. We have eternal and everlasting life

   • Eternal - no beginning, no end

   • Everlasting - no end

   • Colossians 1:14
   • Romans 10:13
   • Acts 15:11
   • 1 John 1:7

   • John 10:28
   • 1 John 5:11

3. We are kept by the power of God

   • John 10:27-30

4. The debt is paid, the work is finished

5. We have been made righteous

   • Romans 4:24-25

6. God will not impute sin to us

7. We are freely justified, it costs us nothing

8. Salvation is a gift

9. We can know we are saved

   • The apostles knew.
     • Paul knew.
       • 2 Corinthians 5:1-8
     • John knew.

What if I don’t feel saved?

1. We may lose our confidence of salvation due to sin.
   • 1 John 3:20-21
2. Feelings are deceptive. You know you are saved because you did what the Word of God said you needed to in order to get saved.
   • Proverbs 28:26

   • Titus 1:2
   • Numbers 23:19
3. We are not condemned.
   • John 3:18

4. We are saved from wrath.
   • Wrath has two aspects:
     • Judgment in Hell
     • Tribulation
       • Christians go out at the Rapture, saved from the tribulation period.

   • 1 Thessalonians 5:9-11
   • 1 Thessalonians 1:10
5. We are free from the law of sin and death.
   • Romans 8:2
   • Romans 10:4
6. We have the Holy Spirit.

7. Jesus is our advocate, our defense attorney.

8. What can separate us from Him? Nothing can.
